Teaching System

SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta integrates Islamic values and character development into its teaching system, distinguishing it from state schools in Yogyakarta, which primarily focus on academics. A key aspect of this approach is Qur'anic education, emphasizing the proper recitation of the Al-Qur'an through Tajweed mastery. To support students in this, the school conducts *"Belajar Iqro’"* sessions every morning at 6:35 before classes begin. Additionally, literacy activities are held every Tuesday at 7:00 a.m. to enhance students' reading and writing skills. Unlike other weekdays, the school starts later on Fridays but finishes earlier at 1:35 p.m., compared to 2:10 p.m. on regular days. Beyond academics, the school offers a range of extracurricular activities, including leadership training, sports, arts, science clubs, and religious programs. These activities help students develop essential soft skills such as teamwork, leadership, and time management, ensuring a well-rounded education.
